Spring Roof Inspection Checklist for NH Homeowners

· New Hampshire exteriors

April and May are when ice dam damage and wind-lifted tabs show up. A 20-minute ground and attic check catches problems before summer storms.

From the yard

  • Missing, curled, or creased shingles on each slope
  • Granules piled in gutters or downspout elbows
  • Bent drip edge or sagging gutter runs
  • Damaged ridge vent or chimney flash

In the attic (if safe)

  • Daylight through decking or nail pops with rust
  • Wet or compressed insulation at eaves
  • New water stains on rafters or sheathing
  • Blocked soffit baffles

When to schedule a look

Active leaks, soft decking, or widespread missing tabs need a written exterior scope — not another tube of caulk.

Bring your spring photos to the estimate; they help us prioritize slopes and flashings.
