Vinyl siding in freeze–thaw climates
Modern vinyl handles NH temperature swings when it can move freely — proper nailing, room at terminations, and correct accessories matter more than brand hype.
Vinyl is lower maintenance: no painting cycle, easy washing, good value on colonials and ranches across Hudson, Bedford, and Derry.
Fiber cement: where it shines
Fiber cement offers a tighter, more architectural look and excellent fire resistance. It pairs well with stone veneer accents common in newer Londonderry and Windham builds.
It needs repainting on a longer cycle than wood, and skilled cutting matters — silica-safe practices are non-negotiable on site.
Do not skip the envelope
WRB, flashing at windows and doors, and kick-out diverter flashings are what keep either material dry. A siding quote should say what happens at penetrations — not just square footage.
