Nor'easter Prep: Protect Your NH Home Exterior

· New Hampshire exteriors

March Nor'easters and December ice storms are part of life in Rockingham and Hillsborough counties. A few hours of prep reduces damage and makes insurance documentation easier if something fails.

Before the storm

  • Clear gutters and downspouts if it is safe to do so
  • Secure or store patio furniture and loose yard items
  • Trim branches that scrape the roof or hang over the driveway
  • Know where your attic access is — check for prior stains before the storm

During and after

Do not go on the roof in wind or ice. Photograph missing shingles, bent gutters, or interior stains as soon as it is safe.

If water is active, bucket and document — then call for an exterior look when conditions allow.

When to call us

Missing shingle tabs, lifted siding courses, or a new ceiling stain after the storm warrant a documented walk — not a panic signing with whoever knocks first.

We write what we see and what a code-compliant repair includes. Your carrier decides what they pay.
