Siding Color Fade on NH South Walls

· New Hampshire exteriors

South and west elevations take more sun than the shaded north. Faded panels next to new stock from the same "color" rarely match — plan elevations, not random patches.

Why fade happens

UV and heat break down pigments. Dark colors show chalking and fade faster than lights.

Fiber cement holds paint systems differently than vinyl — both still need honest color planning.

Repair vs elevation

A few impact-damaged panels on a north wall may match well enough. A faded south wall often needs the full elevation so you do not get a checkerboard.

We dry-fit color samples outdoors in daylight before order — not under showroom fluorescents alone.

HOA and neighborhood look

Some associations limit dark colors or require approval. We flag that early when you mention HOA rules.

Resale photos favor even elevations — patchwork is hard to hide.
